(as a relative),

I recently brought my grandfather who was visiting from Perth in over the Christmas period for high blood pressure & chest pain. He was brought through straight away and connected to the ECG monitor. Bloods were taken, sent and was reviewed by a doctor & referred to the medical doctor due to his previous heart attacks all within a timely and efficient manner. Luckily it wasn't his heart and we were able to go home all within 4hours.

I was very impressed with the compassionate and respectful care that was shown to my grandfather. Afterward he stated to me that it was a fantastic hospital with a great friendly, hard-working team of health professionals and he was very impressed with the care that he received. He was especially grateful to Nurse Chris, Dr Susan & Med Dr Jolyn.

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us, I am sorry to hear that your Grandfather has been unwell. Thank you for sharing your recognition and appreciation for the amazing, hardworking team we have in our Emergency Department (ED) at Kalgoorlie Hospital. Your story also demonstrates the importance of the Australasian Triage Score in prioritising the ED workload and workflow to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Our staff have had a hard time over the last couple of months from the continued pressure brought about by the effects of the pandemic, so they welcome receiving feedback that they have made a patient’s experience so positive. Patient centred care that is safe, compassionate and respectful are at the forefront of all things they do. I will ensure that your gratitude is passed on to Nurse Chris, Dr Susan and Med Dr Jolyn.
