My husband and I were travelling between Westonia and Mukinbudin towing a caravan on holidays. We stopped and as my husband got out of the vehicle to relieve himself he had a fall. He landed on the bitumen, he fell on his left side and his arm pressed into his side. He sustained grazes to his left hand, elbow, knee and forehead. After I cleaned him up as best I could and dressed his wounds, he noticed blood in his urine when he relieved himself, so we went to the Southern Cross Hospital for an assessment.
He was seen to immediately by the registered nurse (I'm sorry, I can't remember his name) and a trainee nurse. I found them both amazing, they gave him a good checking over and cleaned and dressed his wounds properly.
Because they were concerned about blood in his urine and the pain in his kidney, rib area, they arranged for a video link consult with a doctor. They all decided it would be advisable to send him by flying doctor to another hospital for a CT scan to assess his condition and the hospital had all medical staff needed there on standby.
At the time I wrote this, I am waiting to hear the results of his scan and if he is alright or needs further treatment. I would like to say that the nurses who treated my husband were truly amazing, they showed him the greatest care and attention, I am so deeply grateful to them for that and also their concern for me as well as the worried wife. I hope this information is helpful to the wonderful people who I dealt with in Southern Cross Hospital.
Yours sincerely, bargaincs49
