Firstly, I want to applaud and praise all the staff at Exmouth Hospital WA, Doctors/Nurses/Admin/PSA's, I believe all are extremely hard working and dedicated to helping others. As I understand it, Exmouth Hospital has been trying to get extra Doctors for years. I believe our Exmouth township has increased its visitation by double since COVID to approximately 500,000 per annum this year.
We lost a permanent staffed Doctor years ago and it seems to me the position has still not been filled. I feel the Exmouth Hospital only gets Locum's, when we can, to help alleviate the long waiting lists and appointment overloads. I believe Exmouth Hospital still lacks necessary staff of 4 permanent Doctors to help those in need in Exmouth.
I had my appointment cancelled recently, after waiting about 5 weeks to get an appointment. I recall the reason I was told was that we have lost half of our doctors in Exmouth, as they have been sent to Perth. Again, I feel we are penalised for living in a regional/remote community. A community that has a high visitation now and with that amount of people comes health issues, accidents, ill health etc.
In my opinion, please treat Exmouth people as Australians and worthy of being looked after when we have health needs as others in Australia. Please give us back our Doctors to Exmouth that have been taken away, please increase the total number to 4 permanent Doctors, which I believe staff and residents of Exmouth have been asking for years.
Thank you for reading this, thank you to all the health professionals in Australia and a special big thanks to the Exmouth Hospital staff, you are appreciated!
