I found my $230 appointment to be completely useless.

I was referred here regarding painful periods and a possible endometriosis diagnosis. The first thing I mentioned to this gynaecologist was that I did not want to be on the contraceptive pill. I am in a same-sex relationship, have had terrible side-effects from the contraceptive pill in the past and expressed that in the past, I felt doctors have not listened to me and prescribed me the contraceptive pill to manage my pain rather than looking further into this issue.

The gynaecologist explained that they would be putting me on the contraceptive pill, and when I shared the horrible history I had with this, I recall they said that at least it stops my period pains, it seemed ignoring the many other ways it impacts my life. I felt I was not listened to, laughed at on a few occasions when I asked about fertility testing options because I am 'so young'. I am in my 20’s, and I believe being in a same-sex relationship creates a unique set of complications when it comes to reproduction.

Based on my experience, $230 was so much money to pay for a contraceptive pill prescription and nothing further.
