"Home physiotherapy visit"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / Allied Health

(as a relative),

Recently, my spouse had a knee replacement operation. The physio came early the following week. When they were doing the exercises, they were doing one where you lie on the bed and you pull your leg up so your foot comes up to the buttocks. My spouse did so, as far as they could, and then I recall the physio pushed it right in and my spouse screamed out in pain.

I am concerned that the physio went too far when my spouse had only just gotten home from the hospital. My spouse has been in a lot of pain since then, the whole afternoon and the next day, and ever since then. So, they haven’t been able to do their exercises.

Dear maywp34

I am very concerned to hear about the pain experienced by your spouse during a home physiotherapy session, especially as the pain has continued.

We would like to investigate your spouse’s pain further and ensure that they receive the necessary treatment.

As Care Opinion is an anonymous patient experience platform, I urge you to contact our Consumer Liaison Service on 6457 2867 in order to provide your spouse’s details.

I am so sorry to hear of this experience and hope that we will soon be able to address the concerns you have raised.

Warm regards

Janet
