My spouse presented to ED at Geraldton Regional Hospital having an anaphylactic reaction and was stopped by a staff member and told to put on a mask. My spouse attempted to explain their situation and was still told to put on a mask, with a compromised airway, as that was the ‘rules’. I and my spouse feel it is unprofessional and dangerous to have a non-medically trained staff member at the front of ED as I believe this could have further compromised their airway. While this is not the staff member's fault, they are not trained to make medical decisions in my opinion.
