Was referred to haematologist at Bunbury Regional Hospital to carry on a treatment plan for the blood cancer multiple myeloma. I have found that the availability of haematologists (blood specialist) in the Southwest region of WA a little bit to be desired....there are no haematologists at all, they travel regularly to the Southwest from Perth to see their patients..
In a growing city and region I find it quite difficult to understand why there is not 1 or maybe 2 haematologists based in the Southwest region of WA.
In the process of going to the hospital, I was greeted beforehand by the clinical nurse for the haematology department, miss Ashlene. I found her knowledge and helpfulness to be of great assistance and eased most anxieties related to the issues dealing with a blood cancer and the upcoming treatments....her professional outlook I found very useful...I would highly recommend her to anyone in a blood cancer/treatment situation.
