I presented at Collie Hospital and was turned away, as apparently I wasn’t in enough pain, and told to go to the doctors surgery only to be seen and told to go to the hospital because I needed strong pain relief and urgent care. After receiving pain relief and having bloods done I was told there was nothing they could do and to go home. I was, however, in severe pain and in tears as I left and I told them about my pain.
I later presented at Bunbury Regional with the same issue and waited about 4 hrs in the triage area and expressing my growing discomfort and pain to staff in this time. When I was finally taken through I was given more pain relief and left for about 2 hrs crying from discomfort in a chair. After finally being looked at properly, it was too late to have an ultrasound of where the discomfort was coming from (it wouldn’t have been when I first arrived). After being checked by 3 clinicians, they decided to keep me overnight as my pain was uncontrollable and they wanted to try and get on top of it and give me an ultrasound in the morning.
I have never felt more disappointed in the health care system or felt more worthless as I was turned away from Collie and left crying in a chair in Bunbury for hours.
I feel as though I have been more than let down by the health care system especially to be turned away from one hospital for not being in enough pain and to be told I was staying in overnight at another on the same day.
As a previous health care worker during covid myself, I understand it is a busy and tough time but this does not mean patients should be seemingly pushed aside and forgotten about.
"Poor service"
