My family want to express our thanks for 2 recent experiences we've had at Box Hill hospital.
First was the care we received during my pregnancy and the recent birth of our daughter. Despite obvious stress and pressure from understaffing/code brown, not one care provider we dealt with projected this stress on to us as patients and we always felt as though we were well cared for and attended to. Special thanks to Tara from MGP program and midwife Laura B (who we also remembered from her kind care during the birth of our first baby!). All staff we encountered along the way were amazing.
Our second experience was 2 weeks after our daughter was born, when we returned with her to Box Hill Emergency department due to a viral infection. Again, I felt despite obvious pressure and huge workload all staff that attended to us showed genuine care and took time for us. Initially, I wasn't sure we should go in to ED, didn't want to take up a bed and wasn't sure if what we went to emergency for was 'serious' enough. But we were made to feel welcome and never a burden or silly for coming in. In my sleep-deprived state, I can't remember anyone's name who helped us on that night (sorry!) but want to say thank you, especially to the kind nurse who offered to walk us back to our car after being discharged in the early hours of the morning!
You all do a wonderful job, it can't be easy doing the work you do especially during the pandemic, but for me, it certainly didn't go unnoticed ☺️
