"A lovely touch"

About: Perth Children's Hospital / Emergency Department Perth Children's Hospital / Ward 2B - Medical

(as a parent/guardian),

After transferring with my 2-month-old child via ambulance from another hospital, I cannot thank the staff at PCH enough for the amazing care they provided.

Nurse Grace in ED was great, with her confidence and competence allowing me to be assured my baby was in the best place. She did a great job at advocating for my child and made the whole experience a lot less daunting. She continually kept me up to date with progress.

We transferred to Ward 2B that afternoon. Again, the nursing staff on the ward did an incredible job at caring for my child. Every nurse I met on the ward and who assisted with caring for my child were extremely competent, thorough and timely and their communication was great. Always keeping me informed on what was happening and explaining why they were doing certain things. The volunteer staff on the ward and pre/post op were an added bonus. Incredibly gentle and reassuring. Being able to even have a short chat with them was a lovely touch to what could have otherwise been an extremely horrible experience.

Check-in staff at pre-op, to anaesthetics, surgeons and post-op/ recovery staff, there wasn't a single person I spoke with or met along the journey that made me doubt the care my baby was receiving.

At the time of writing this, we are now back home and well on the road to recovery. Thank you very much to all the staff we engaged with during our stay at PCH.
