I took my son in to have his second Covid vaccination in Geraldton. He was nervous about the appointment. Not about having the vaccine, but because my son was my daughter the last time he attended.
We were greeted by Amanda and she asked us the standard health questions at the door before asking if we had an appointment. I explained we did, and that my son would be listed under his birth name and that he no longer went by that. Amanda promptly asked my son what name he would like on his vaccine certificate and which pronouns he preferred. She was warm and friendly and expressed no contrary body language. She explained that my son would need to update his name change with Medicare but she could affect that change within their system. My son had already changed his Medicare so Amanda ensured that was correct too.
At no stage did she make my son feel uncomfortable, she was kind, caring and attentive. My son was able to complete his appointment with dignity. Please extend my greatest gratitude to her and all your staff who we dealt with for doing such a wonderful job.
