"Dysfunction of the organisation"

About: Broome Health Campus / Maternity/Midwifery

(as a service user),

I’ve had numerous encounters with different departments within WACHS recently during my pregnancy, birth and now postnatally.

Whilst the individual health professionals who cared for me throughout my journey were very good, it seemed there was no hiding the shortfalls of the organisation within which they work.

I believe staff within the Kimberley region are working hard to plug the gaps of a very broken, very under resourced organisation.

Dear Feedbackforyou,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback.

Undoubtedly, the impact of the global pandemic has brought with it some unique and complex circumstances against a backdrop of challenges in recruiting a skilled workforce across the health system, particularly over the last two years.

As part of Covid preparedness, all public health service providers across Western Australia were supported to increase their workforce resource and the WA Country Health Service in the Kimberley is continuing to recruit staff so that we maintain the high level of care and service to our communities. While this is unquestionably a challenging time for everyone, we are ‘all hands on deck’ and are prepared to care for and support our community in the weeks and months ahead.

I wholeheartedly agree with you that our individual health professionals do a great job, and we are extremely proud of our collaborative workforce culture that is focused on the best possible health outcomes for our patients.

I would like to wish you all the best and hope that you are delighting in the joys of parenthood with your baby.

Yours sincerely,

James Sherriff

Operations Manager
