"Volunteers"

About: Perth Children's Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

Visited PCH with my child recently and we were met by two volunteers, one from Ronald McDonald House and the other from PCH, I could easily tell by the orange and blue shirts.

We checked in for the appointment with the help of the RMCH Volunteer, then I recall the person who was the volunteer at PCH interfered and took over.

I was not impressed by their actions and it seemed to clearly upset the RMHC volunteer.

Dear beidjd55,

Thank you for contacting us through Care Opinion to raise your concerns regarding your experience with our volunteer services during your recent visit to Perth Children’s Hospital.

The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) values the support provided by both our own volunteers and those from Ronald McDonald House Charities WA. Whilst both groups of volunteers have clear roles and responsibilities, there are times when these overlap in the enthusiasm of helping patients and families arriving at Perth Children’s Hospital.

I am disappointed to hear of your negative experience with a CAHS volunteer. As a result of your feedback, I will remind all volunteers that they must work in collaboration with one another to ensure the consumer experience is a memorable one.

If you would like to discuss the matter further, I would like to invite you to please contact our Consumer Engagement Team by calling (08) 6456 0032 between 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday or email CAHSFeedback@health.wa.gov.au

Thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback and help us improve the services we provide to children and families.

Kind regards

Mr. Andy Wahid
Volunteer Coordinator
Child and Adolescent Health Service.
