"Welding wire vs thumb"

About: Busselton Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

A rusty MIG wire hook was perfect to unblock tubing until it wasn't. A vigorous pull-out passed the wire 'clean' through my thumb. Surprise turned to dismay as I backed it out. A disinfectant wash and bandage masked the wound which cooked quietly overnight.

Off to the Busselton Hospital Emergency next morning, RAT tested, then triaged by Dr Nathalie for Tetanus injection, tendon ultrasound – performed most expertly by Joe, then IV antibiotics and good counsel from her team.

Dear hotelmy68,

Ouch! That sounds very painful.

I'm glad you had a positive experience at Busselton Hospital Emergency Department. It's hard to predict when something like this is going to happen but if it does I'm grateful our clinical team is ready to respond. I hope your recovery isn't too painful and you can get back on the tools quickly.

If you have any other feedback please give me a call on 9753 6372,

Yours sincerely, Dan
