I had an emergency C-Section at Ipswich Hospital and then transferred to the maternity ward in 5C. I had a horrible experience. My spouse could not stay in the ward to help me out. I was in so much pain, I was told to buzz the midwives if I need help to care for baby. I felt they took a while to attend to me and my baby was very unsettled. I found one staff member was quite rude when I asked for a warm blanket for my baby because I recall they flopped the blankets on my bed in a very rude way and said that I only get two warm blankets. I felt I didn’t get any support from the staff. Although not all were bad, there were a couple of staff who were so nice and willing to help me out.
I loved my MGP and the doctors, anaesthetic registrar were so good and professional. Not to mention the operating theatre staff were so amazing! Based on my experience, only the ward I would not recommend. But overall, I would not go to this hospital for my second birth.
