Around 3 years ago, I had surgery for C3 cervical lesion removal, having previous to this presented with HPV16 on last 3 papsmears.
12 months after having these precancerous cells removed I had a follow up which the report states no cervical abnormalities note but still presenting with HPV16 (I believe the cancer causing strain). The report to my doctor from Rockingham Gynaecology clinic said they would review and CST in 12 months time.
When 12 months passed by without contact, I spoke to my doctor who sent them a request to make a follow-up appointment for me. It took a further 2 months to hear from them with an appointment date that was then cancelled by them about 2 weeks later by text. It took another month before another appointment letter came and then a week later another cancellation text. I am now waiting for a 3rd appointment to be reset, and it's so far 4 months passed my 12 month check up that the precancerous cells have not reappeared. I have been told that whilst still presenting with HPV16 over such a long period of time that cancer is still highly likely to start to re-form.
On top of this I have been having issues with not having a period since last year and other unexplainable issues with my health.
The delay in the follow up appointment is now giving me great anxiety and concern by not knowing if cancerous cells have appeared and are causing my further health issues.
Such a large delay in having a follow up to over 5 years of having HPV16 and previous cancer cell formation seems to me to show no care for my health and wellbeing.
I have spoken to the booking staff at the department that I believe blamed these times of Covid as the reason for my cancellations. It is affecting my mental health to worry that due to Covid, it appears other health concerns like cervical cancer are no longer being looked after properly.
