Social group outings organised via Tallangatta Health are great for those who live in Tallangatta but if elderly choose to continue to live in their home, which is encouraged, it seems the equity of your service is a little one sided which probably hints that it is not equitable in my opinion. I believe there are a group of people, probably half a bus, who’d love to come but can’t. Hint …… Mitta Valley. Great locations to visit for the social support, really good idea, just a shame my parent can’t go. They’d love to but can’t drive into Tallangatta to meet the bus.

Presently, we have a social support outing which departs from Tallangatta and one which departs from Bellbridge throughout the month for our community consumers to participate in.

Historically, My Community & Home Care did provide social support group opportunities within the Eskdale region however the demand dropped and as a result this group was ceased.

Now that our social support group outings have recommenced, it is the perfect opportunity for My Community & Home care to reevaluate services in consultation with the community.

As a result of your feedback, we have placed an expression of interest in our May Branch Out Newsletter for people who reside in the Eskdale, Mitta Valley and Dartmouth regions. This expression of interest will assist to determine if another local opportunity for consumers to participate in a social support group locally is required.

I would encourage you to share this expression of interest with your community members and family.
