"Urgent Care entrance"

About: Ouyen Hospital

(as the patient),

I arrived at the Urgent Care Centre due to excessive bleeding from a recent surgical procedure. I understand I was denied entry by the attending staff member as I had not done a test. I repeatedly tried to explain that I am on xarelto (blood thinner) and that I was unable to control the bleeding and that the dressing was soaked and that it was running down my leg.

I recall the staff member refused to assist me and so I found I had to go home, place a towel over the wound and elevated my leg to try and reduce the bleeding.

If I needed to have had a RA test why could the staff member not conduct the test and then attend to my needs. It is an Urgent Care Centre!

Dear cafeyk34,

Thank you for your feedback as this allows us to make improvements.

I was extremely disappointed to hear that you did not receive the care and attention I would expect of person centered care.

Pandemic Orders require all people attending Urgent Care to have a Rapid Antigen Test on entry to the facility. This can be facilitated by staff.

I would like to investigate this matter and endeavour to make improvements so this does not happen to anyone else.

If you would like to make contact, please call me on 0428 921 111.
