"Left behind too many times, need Emergency surgery asap!"

About: Angliss Hospital

(as the patient),

I have been in and out of hospital at Eastern Health Angliss with live changing abdominal pain caused by extensive adhesions and ovaries tucked up under my bowel, I was booked in twice to have this live changing surgery as I have no quality of life and the first was cancelled while in hospital the second was cancelled because of the Easter weekend. I was assured that the next week they would move things around to get me in asap so I can have this surgery.

I have lost my job, I can't look after my kids, and I am in debilitating pain 24/7. I believe it was the anaesthetist team who were the ones to cancel the surgery just before Easter after I was ready to go! I am mentally a mess, making phone calls every day and hanging by the phone just so I can find out what's going on with maybe a phone call but it never comes. I am an emergency case under general at the Angliss hospital with the director of gyne team (who is brilliant) by my side with no pull or say into what is happening, As the surgery will be the efforts of both general and gyne to remove my ovaries I need more communication and action on this. I have no quality of life and they said loud and clear that before the long weekend they will come up with something to get me into surgery! I need help and I need it quick! Please help me, my life depends on it!

Dear indigoxf78,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience while awaiting for the new date of your surgery.

As you have mentioned in your post, there have been a number of conversations between yourself and the surgical team, and I understand there is now a plan in place to progress towards you receiving your surgery at one of Eastern Health campuses.

I trust with that with this plan developed with you that your surgery will proceed with the next planned date which I understand has been identified.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding and I trust your surgery will go ahead as planned.

Kind regards

David
