A few weeks ago I had my first child, in Kununurra's Hospital. After almost 24 hours of labour, I ended up in a Emergency C section and baby was born after 10PM. For the record it could be a Traumatic one... for me:
It was painful and scary, but because I had such a great team around me, I just remember feeling respected, cared for, and loved every second during every stage of my experience. I never felt like a simple number. I really felt cared for.
Being part of a small town, and in a small hospital, where I believe resources and staff are not enough, I have no words to thank all the people who were involved in monitoring my pregnancy, labor, surgery and recovery.
Despite the fact that it was a long and stressful day for everyone, they never left me alone, or failed to give us information, and confidence that everything was going to be alright.
I really want someone to recognise how hard and well the professionals at the Kununurra hospital work, based on my experience.
They were part of the Team that took care of me: Dr. Elleonor, Dr. Nathan, Dr. Davina, Dr. Jilian, who took all the necessary decisions to protect us, without rushing me.
Midwives Hanneke, Sam, Tina, Claire, Bren. Who guided me with so much love and patience throughout the process.
Sue from the theatre that held my hand the whole time.
Even the food and the lady who brought the food were great.
(The only bad thing we experienced, was a vacuum cleaner or polisher in the hallway, which was so noisy, I feel that it shouldn't be allowed in a hospital!)
Thanks again, I seriously hope someone really read this.
