"Extra long wait"

About: Kununurra Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My spouse had a very serious accident which resulted in a very deep cut to their calf. I believe the skin and muscle was hanging off. The ambulance brought them onto ED. My spouse was to be sent to Perth as the injury was extensive and could not be operated on there. They were sent to the ward to wait and told every few hours that it wouldn't be long. At the time of writing this, it had been a couple of days and again had been told they wouldn't be travelling that night. My spouse cannot leave their bed because of their injury and is concerned if their injury and healing time would be affected due to this delay. My spouse was extremely frustrated and worried.

Dear octoberjx48,

Thank you for your feedback on the Care Opinion platform, on behalf of your partner.

WA Country Health Service apologises for the delay in the transfer to Perth for your partner’s injury.

I understand the concern and frustration with these delays of care when you have a plan to manage the injury. The staff were very active in ensuring the transfer occurred as soon as practically possible.

I sincerely hope your partner is recovering following the management in Perth.

I am happy to discuss any other issues and concerns, you can reach me on 0408 944 305.

Sincere thanks for your feedback.

Kind Regards,

Robyn Timms

Acting East Kimberley Operations Manager
Kununurra, Wyndham and Halls Creek
