"Ridiculously long wait times"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / Outpatient Department (Eyes & General)

(as the patient),

My appointment was at a certain time, I didn’t get seen till around 3 hours later. In my opinion, this is ridiculous! The doctor was lovely, but I feel the wait times are horrendous especially when you have to travel by train at night. I believe this really needs to be addressed, have more staff or doctors on to help with this. I feel it’s absolutely appalling especially when the elderly are effected and most times cannot sit in one spot for hours on end. It seems to me such lack of care by Sydney Eye Hospital.

Dear pelicanfr55,

I apologise that the wait time for your scheduled appointment in the Outpatients Department was extended, and that it caused you distress and inconvenience. The Outpatient Department team aims to see all patients as close to their appointment time as possible.

The department is soon to implement a new system to improve and streamline the process overall.

I value your feedback and will ensure it is passed on to the Outpatients Team.
