"Hospital discharge"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / 2 West & Hand Clinic

(as a carer),

After hand surgery, my elderly parent was discharged with their right hand in a cast.

Suffering from advanced arthritis they were sent home to their independent living apartment with, to my knowledge, no arrangements made for assistance with personal care, meal preparation, medical assistance or any of the other things that we take for granted with two able hands.

Not happy that even though I flagged that this assistance would be required in the pre-admission papers there was no follow up at discharge.

I had to arrange our own respite care.

Dear whiskeyt95,

I’m sorry to hear this happened to your elderly parent. This must be very frustrating for you and the family.

I value your feedback and I would like to discuss this with you. Please contact me at SESLHD-SSEHExecutiveServices@health.nsw.gov.au

Kind regards
