I went to the emergency hub in Cowes because I had severe pain in my abdomen. I was told to take a seat and wait and was the first in line. Wait I did and had three people who to my knowledge, turned up much later than me and were seen before me. One person I know had what I believe to be a mild rash. When I finally got to see the doctor 3 hours later they correctly diagnosed me with diverticular disease, said they wanted to send me to the Wonthaggi hospital for an MRI scan but said they would be wasting my time as they thought they would not be able to give one at that time of the day (that was incorrect), and told me to come back the next day at mid-morning which I did.
Again I had a two-hour wait with two people jumping in front of me before seeing a doctor. The doctor sent me to the Wonthaggi hospital for an MRI scan on my abdomen and within 5 minutes I was told by a doctor that I needed to be rushed to one of the other hospitals for life-saving emergency surgery for a perforated bowel. I feel they should make up their own mind whether I should have been sent to a hospital immediately for an MRI or not. Based on my experience, this Cowes hub is terribly undermanned and the 3 times I have attended it, I believe there has only been one doctor at the practice.
"My experience was not good"
