Earlier this month, I had my annual Flu injection which I have had every year. I went to see the Covid Injection Team at Fitzroy Crossing as they had been administering it to staff and expected it to be routine. However, it turned into an emergency quite quickly. I was having an acute anaphylaxis episode.
The Covid injection Team were fantastic. Seeing that there was a dramatic change, they rushed me into ED and handed me over to the Resus team. As you can imagine I was battling to breathe and my world was going grey, to the point I could only make outlines of the staff but could hear their calming voices.
As a member of staff in Community Health, I do interact with these people on a day to day basis, but I know that when it is a friend or work colleague that is in a life-threatening situation it can impact the team. However, every person involved was amazing, their quick responses from the initial onset, to transfer to ED and seeing me through the episode, all members of the Covid Injection Team, Resus Team and Community Health who helped were so professional, worked as a team and I know that I will be forever grateful for this and what they did.
I would like to name a few people I remember that were there, the Covid Injection team (Tracy, Robyn, Ruth, David) Resus Team (Pract Nurse Courtney, Jisha, Jack, and I know there were others), Community Health (Donna). I haven't named everyone but you are all included and I want to say thank you for saving my life and letting me smile another day.
