"Covid Management Centre"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / ASB 3S - Community Management Centre St George Hospital / 7B Haematology / Rheumatology

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with COVID-19 in early April and absolutely struggled with symptoms, I couldn’t see myself recovering like other people. I got worse and was referred to the hospital for lung scans and tests where I was told about long covid etc. I was super unwell and then I was told I had tested positive again in early May.

I felt confused as I’m triple vaccinated and yes it’s rare to have it again so soon and my symptoms weren’t good. I do have compromised health issues with autoimmune disorders. The Government saying 7 days isolation, 12 weeks and no need for testing as people build up immunity, I believe it doesn’t necessarily mean this for those with compromised health conditions.

I felt St George Hospital was great, Doctors and Nurses they were under the pump. Upon leaving there, I was also referred to the Covid Management Centre at Prince of Wales, where I would like to give a special shout to Susan, Dean and Francis who have continued to care and check in on me.

Due to my personal circumstances I’ve had to isolate away from my family (out of area) where I was to be transferred to the local district health who actually haven’t assisted me at all. With me feeling worse, having unusual and concerning symptoms and feeling overwhelmed, I called POW for help again. They have continued to care, check in and point me in the right direction when I’ve needed it (even though I’m not in their area). I’m forever greatful for their assistance, in my opinion they are amazing humans! I don’t know what’s to come but I know they are there.

As this pandemic situation continues, I realise it’s not going anywhere and while Government pushes forward to open up and ease restrictions even more, I believe it is concerning for some. Health and lives matter and we heavily rely on our emergency and health support workers in times of need. I do hope this service continues, they have been my lifesaver!

Kind Regards,

velamn58
