"PCR test for my baby"

About: Bridgetown Hospital

(as a service user),

Called Bridgetown Hospital to arrange a COVID-19 PCR test for my 10month-old baby and I as we were both quite sick, had been in contact with COVID-19, yet had negative RAT tests.

My baby has a known heart condition so I feel that knowing whether they had COVID-19 or not is very important.

I spoke with a clinician who I felt discouraged me from booking in for a PCR (particularly for my baby) and it seemed they repeatedly questioned me as to why I wanted one- and told me how traumatic it would be for my baby.

I didn't book a PCR in the end.

Thank you for your feedback Patient91.

I am very sorry to hear of your negative experience when trying to book your baby in for a PCR at our hospital.

I have now educated staff and they have been provided with a clear process to refer all questions and queries regarding PCR to the COVID hotline. This process is to ensure you will get personalised and up to date information regarding what is best for you and any family members with regards to COVID. I hope your baby has now improved.
