Patient next to me in the shared ward room had been verbally abusing me since I arrived. They had called me a range of profanities and I recall no staff had actually spoken to them about their abusive behaviour. I was admitted to get help which I feel hadn't happened, not to be continually abused by this patient.
Shared wards should have noise restrictions, in my opinion, especially at night. The other patient turns their tv on at around 5.30am, one night at 2am. I feel it's pathetic that the staff don't turn it off. I had not had any sleep or rest since being there.
I've spoken with the deputy director of nursing and num but I believe nothing had changed.
The reason I was admitted has been seemingly shafted. So now I have to come back as an outpatient.
I called the patient helpline and asked for help which they did, by sending me the num to discuss again.
Even as I left the room I recall the patient was badgering and calling me names, a very disgusting experience in the hand and eye hospital in Macquarie Street. Based on my experience, I won't go there unless it's the last place on earth if I don't want to be harmed during my admission.
