"Impact and support from staff"

About: Allied Health Services Wheatbelt Regional Palliative Care

(as a carer),

I am my Mother's carer. She is now over 100 years old and her health is deteriorating. She has lost her sense of taste, not eating well, losing weight and starting to choke on liquids.

In our experience, the Wheatbelt Palliative Care Team have been wonderful. They recommended Rachel (Senior Speech Pathologist Moora) might be able to help. She suggested some things to try and has been a valuable source of help and advice.

I believe it is truly wonderful to have these qualified people who really care about the people we 'care for'. I am so grateful for their impact and support, and it's a great feeling to know that I don't have to deal with all of this on my own.

Dear earmarkms79,

Firstly, thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience with our Wheatbelt Palliative Care Team and Rachel our Senior Speech Pathologist based in Moora.

I agree with you, that it is ideal to have such dedicated and professional staff in our health service and I have shared your feedback personally with Rachel. I am pleased to hear that she could support you as a carer for your mum. I am sure you have been doing an amazing job and if our health service staff has provided you with assistance to support you in that important role, we have achieved one of our goals.

With best wishes for you and your mum.

Regina Michel-Huessy
Director Population Health
