"Lack of caring and communication"

About: GPs in the Midland Electoral District

(as the patient),

Earlier this year, I had to go back to a private maternity service in Midland W.A. for the second time. The first time, a couple of years ago, I went in for a biopsy which was extremely painful as I was given nothing for the pain. During the procedure I moved, from the shock of the pain, the doctor said they had to do it again. I was then told to go home and take a painkiller. Walking back to our car I doubled up in pain and luckily my partner was there to take me home where I spent the rest of the day in bed.

Unfortunately the problem came back so a few weeks ago I went back to see another doctor where we agreed I was to be given a hysteroscopy in hospital as my first experience was so incredibly painful. I went home to check the date and rang them back straight away saying I could not make the booked date of surgery and asked to have it changed. Since then, I have rung several times and e mailed and have not heard back. I was told on the phone someone would contact me.

I am under extreme pressure caring for my partner who is going through their 4th recurrence of cancer. I am their sole carer and take them to appointments and treatments. They start their cancer treatment next week. I am also giving some of my spare time caring for a child under pressure from looking after two babies. I have limited time to be in hospital for myself as I have to work around my partner’s schedule.

I feel this private maternity service seems to care more for their pregnant mothers and I am left feeling unimportant that they haven’t the manners to at least ring me back. I was charged $250 for a 10min consult.

I am now having to find someone else to treat me.
