"My father-in-law being shown respect and dignity"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Respiratory Medicine Department & Ward 5D

(as a relative),

I want the team at Fiona Stanley Hospital ward 5D to know how thankful my partner's family are for the respect and dignity they showed my father-in-law as it became apparent his care was palliative.

The staff always addressed him and clearly explained to him what they were doing to him, and checked in on him frequently to offer pain relief. Big thank you to nurses Kyle and Katie on the ward who were very caring and calm, and to the other staff who worked to allow the family some privacy and to be able to spend his last hours with him.

He died surrounded by family holding his hands and sharing memories ❤️

Thank you to the staff on ward 5D for  your care and compassion.

Dear Family82,

I was so proud to receive your heartfelt thanks for our care of your father-in-law during his last days.

Talking — and listening — are both important parts of palliative care, and I have passed your comments on to ward 5D, especially nurses Kyle and Katie.

It is a privilege to assist a person and their family in feeling safe and supported during the end-of-life journey.

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty

Group Executive Director

Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group.
