"Long waiting time at the emergency department"

About: Karratha Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

We waited for more than 3 hours and my child was so tired and they felt to go back home without treatment.

I do understand short staff but I wish the government can help to fix this because it is not the first time for me. It seems to me many people have complained about waiting in ED.

Dear pagernp37,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your experience as a Parent at the Karratha Health Campus Emergency Department whilst waiting for a long time for your child to be seen, I note that you left before this occurred and I hope they are feeling better.

Patients are seen in accordance with Australasian Triage Scale (ATS) which prioritises clinically acute cases and I know that the department has been very busy of late with unwell people. I do apologise that you had a long wait in the department, the team have been doing their utmost and I know they don't like to have any patients waiting too long.

Warm regards,

Liam Avery, Operations Manager WACHS West Pilbara
