"Medical clinic policy of not taking appointments over phone"

About: GPs in the Burwood Electoral District

(as a service user),

A medical clinic in Burwood VIC has put in place a policy that and I quote from a sign at their practice:

'will no longer take appointments over the phone'.

I have an elderly parent who is a patient of this clinic who does not use the internet and it seems is now no longer able to get medical care. Their pharmacist is also unable to contact the clinic directly to discuss any issues with their webster pack or prescriptions.

I feel this policy is severely impacting patient safety and is discriminatory against the elderly and needs to be reversed immediately.

I have provided this feedback to the clinic on the patient suggestion box over a month ago, with no response. Recently, I had to attend the clinic in person on behalf of my parent's pharmacist as the current medications needed review and prescriptions sent.
