"Shingles injection"

About: Swan Hill District Health Medical Centre

(as the patient),

I am telling this story so that other pensioners do not get caught out, I booked in to see a doctor to have the shingles injection, they wrote out a script for me to take to the chemist to order a needle (shingles) then bring the needle back to the Swan Hill Primary Health Medical Centre to have the injection, after speaking to a nurse, they said that I should be getting the shingles needle free of charge as I am a pensioner and the government supply this needle free to pensioners. The script cost me $220.00 at the chemist. I believe this should not have happened…not very happy. I feel the doctor should know better.

Hi conditionersn95,

Firstly thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback regarding your experience. I would like to apologise on behalf of the organisation and the clinic for your negative experience and would like to find out some additional details from you to prevent this incident from reoccurring.

If you could contact me directly via email on shellsten@shdh.org.au to provide some specific details that would be greatly appreciated.

Again thank you for taking the time to provide some feedback. I look forward to hearing from you.

Warmest regards,

Samantha Hellsten

I just wanted to tell my story so that it wouldn’t happen to anybody else. I believe it shouldn’t have happened to me and being a pensioner, in my experience, we can’t afford to be out of pocket $220 when in my opinion, your staff & Doctors should know all procedures within the clinic.
