My daughter has a severe phobia of needles. She required a blood test and we have put it off for a while because it was just too scary for her. We are due to see the Paediatrician again soon so we needed to have it completed.

We were so lucky that Corrine was available. On arrival my daughter was an absolute mess of tears and anxiety. Corrine was fantastic with my daughter, she completely validated why she was so scared, but made her feel safe and assured her that she would be taken care of. She was so professional, gentle and showed so much compassion. She didnt talk down to her and didnt make her feel silly for being so upset (which unfortunately we have experienced elsewhere). We both left with a smile on our face.

Thank you so much Corrine, you have given my daughter such a positive experience to draw on when she needs a blood test in the future.

Thank you for sharing your story, it made me smile too.

It was so lovely to read how expertly Corrine used her compassion and empathy to engage with your daughter and achieve a successful outcome as blood tests can be very daunting for those with phobias. Corrine has used all her skills and experience to communicate and reassure your daughter, without ever making her feel that a phobia is something to be ashamed of. We are very lucky to have Corrine at North Midlands and share her expertise with the community. I will ensure she is made aware of you feedback and I will add my appreciation of her fantastic work.
