Our baby was born with a difficult start and transferred to the NICU where she ended up staying for 4 weeks. Despite the difficulty in our baby’s arrival, the NICU staff showed empathy and care for both the newborn and the parents. This acknowledgement was significant being the first offer of support for a parent’s NICU journey. The support from the lactation consultant was also invaluable following birth and throughout admission.
The trust gained in staff was further cemented from the level of care and attention that was provided to our baby, I have no doubt of the world class skillset demonstrated on a daily basis. I felt this was also evident in how staff supported each other in their training (between junior and senior staff) and performance of procedures which further reassured us as parents.
Despite the challenges from staffing and increased workload from COVID-19, all of these factors translated to up-to-date clear and effective communication to keep us informed which we were so grateful for and could not have asked for more.
"World class NICU"
