Attended the Emergency room of Sale Hospital recently. I had a Dr’s note which I gave to the Triage Nurse. I was attended to within the hour. Bloods were done and began to Transfuse me within minutes. At this point, it wasn’t clear where the blood was coming from, but it was clear that I needed it. I was transferred to CCU whilst the blood transfusion was taking place. Staff around me were busy, yet warm and welcoming. I was then moved to a surgical ward where the attention was equally as genuine. I had a GI Scope and nothing of significance was found. Yet, I was still bleeding. Around the evening of the following day I began to be ill. Vomit followed by bowel bleed. A CT scan indicated an AVM. I was informed that this procedure would need to be done at Monash Clayton as a matter of urgency. The Surgical team coordinated joint care within Monash Health, I was airlifted to Monash Clayton early the next morning.
Paramedics; thank you. You guys work under extreme conditions and manage to maintain your professionalism.
My treatment at Monash Health was equally brilliant.
These processes necessitated coordination and careful planning across various services. Thanks again to the medical and Nursing staff at Central Gippsland Health, Sale Hospital & Monash Health (Clayton).
I am here to see another day thanks to you.
