"Collie Hospital midwives"

About: Collie Hospital / Maternity and Delivery

(as the patient),

I would just like to say if it wasn’t for the midwives in Collie, my post partum period and breastfeeding journey would have been awful. I saw 3 of the midwives a couple of times a week for the first 6 weeks and I couldn’t thank them enough for the knowledge and support I received. After having to give birth at Bunbury Regional due to my baby being born just before 37 weeks, and receiving less than satisfactory aftercare, I left hospital an absolute mess. I was anxious, I was forced to stay in as my baby was just under 2.5kg and I was feeling awful. I wasn’t shown how to breastfeed and I nearly gave up.

The Collie midwives made me feel so much more confident and I am still breastfeeding now, months down the track. They are all amazing based on my experience and I like how they have such different styles of nursing and such a range of knowledge. I couldn’t thank them all enough!

Dear plutowd58,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Congratulations on the birth of your new baby! I am so glad that the Collie midwives were able to support you and assist you in your postnatal and breastfeeding journey. It sounds like you had a tough start. Providing great ongoing care and support both during pregnancy and the postnatal period to women in the Collie area is something we strive to do and one of the aims of the Midwifery Group Practice. We are so glad that you felt we achieved this. I will certainly pass on your thanks to Kelly, Ginny, Jacinta, Taylah, Tara and Sylvia - they are midwives with big hearts and it will bring them a lot of joy to know that you felt they made a big difference in your breastfeeding and postnatal journey.

Warm regards,

Amy Gumbrell
