"Treatment for splinter"

About: Busselton Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

After getting a large splinter lodged deep under his nail at the playground, I took my child to Busselton ED to have it removed. Being a weekend night I prepared him for a long wait. However, we were taken directly from check in by an amazing nurse practitioner Robbie, who reassured and treated my son with the upmost respect and professionalism. He anesthetised his finger and removed the splinter, all while ensuring my child was calm and happy, and even gave him an icy pole afterwards for being so brave. We were so happy with the treatment that Robbie gave us, and the ability to move quickly through ED without having to wait for a doctor. Please pass on our thanks!

Dear asteropefs47,

I am so glad that you had prompt service when you came to ED with your child. It is always an anxious time when a child has to attend the hospital and so good when the experience is a positive one.

We are very fortunate to have a Nurse Practitioner like Robbie working in our team. He will be delighted to hear your feedback.

Thank you for taking the time to write to Care Opinion. The staff always appreciate positive comments.

Yours Sincerely

Caroline Booker
