My father-in-law experienced increased shortness of breath and chest pain at home and his wife needed to call an ambulance to take him to Busselton hospital. His journey from the ambulance team working with my mum-in-law to retrieve him, and give advice on when to best call the hospital to the timely care of him through triage and within the emergency department.
Particularly the care provided by Werner (the FACEM) and Claire (Registered Nurse) in taking the time to hear his story, assessment and liaising with his cardiologist to develop a discharge plan of care for him is very appreciated.
Wearner and Claire always explained what was happening for him and to him in language that he was able to understand.
We understand that our dad has some interesting heart sounds, that while he would rather not have - he was very chuffed to share these sounds with the nursing and medical staff and contribute to their learning. As family across Australia reached out to check up on him recently, being involved in teaching was a story that he repeated with some pride.
Carolyn thank you for your leadership of a caring and compassionate nursing team.
