About: Care Forward Home Support Services

(as a relative),

My parent has had two toes amputated within a couple of months. This was due to misdiagnosed gangrene by their GP. The last few months, I feel the community nursing has been at fault, it seems to me their apparent lack of care for their patients is failing them. My parent has many other health issues within their body. I believe there aren’t enough staff to change my parent’s dressings! My parent has recently got an infection in their foot that has had the two toes amputated. In my opinion, this is the fault of the health system and the staff who are currently meant to be managing my parent’s care.

Dear fireby39,

I am so sorry you have had such a distressing time with your parent’s care. The wound care described in the story would have been conducted by a community nursing service as wound care can only be provided by a qualified nurse.

Care Forward provides a Post Hospital Program to help with the discharge of a client to their home. Within this program we provide low level support such as help in the home with house work duties and personal requirements such as showering or bathing. Care Forward does not provide nursing services as part of the Post Hospital Program. The hospital in question would refer these services to a Community Nursing Provider upon discharge.

We have conducted a search on the limited information, and we do not have a client with conditions matching the description in your story but please contact us directly to provide us with more information and we may be able to assist you. To reach us, you can call 1300 364 876 and ask for Home Support Manager or email info@careforward.com.au.

Again, we are sorry you have had this experience.

Kind Regards,

Care Forward Health and Homecare
