Attended the emergency department with my relative who required medical attention. I am a concession card holder and was advised to park in the allocated parking and that the emergency department staff would verify the ticket and I’d avoid a large cost.
Care at the emergency department was excellent, my relative was taken care of and advised they would need to stay in overnight so I was alright to leave.
I attended the service window to have my parking ticket validated as instructed and before I could say why I was there the person behind the window stuck their head out and rudely, I felt, asked me to wait, closing the window. They then popped their head out and asked if I have a letter, when I advised that I didn’t and that I was following the instructions given at ED as it was an emergency, they were unable or unwilling to help and closed the window in my face. I was very taken aback by this experience I’ve never been treated so rudely in the hospital before.
I returned to ED as I wasn’t sure what to do as I’d done nothing to upset the service desk but didn’t know how to get my ticket sorted out, when I told the lovely person at the emergency department she took me to her desk and it got sorted.
The care was amazing but I felt the kindness of some staff was very lacking.
