"I cannot praise this country hospital enough"

About: Meekatharra Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I knocked on the door at 7:30am in pain after a sleepless night out in our bush camp with an acute flare up of my diverticulitis. Within 2 hours I had been triaged by staff and Perth via iPad, seen by the wonderful Dr Damian and hooked up to IV antibiotics in my own room.

The staff were professional, caring and amazing even the hospital chef taking the time to come and see me personally to ask if there was anything she could offer to ease my stay. Dr Damian checked on me throughout my 24hr stay. I caught a brief glimpse of the resident cat Tiger who roams the halls looking for anyone who might need his calming cuddles.

My hubby tried to persuade me to return immediately to Perth on discharge but I felt safer hanging around their expert care rather than making the 2 day return trip before I was well enough.

Based on my experience, if you ever need to visit Meekatharra Hospital please feel confident that you will receive superior care.

It was so nice to read how everyone at Meekatharra worked together to make your care their priority. The telehealth service allows residents and travellers in remote areas feel confident they can access quality emergency care should it be required.

Dr Damian’s commitment to your ongoing care highlights his dedication to his patients and compassionate nature. We are very lucky to have him looking after our Meekatharra patients.

Kellie is our cook at Meekatharra and is very passionate about providing excellent food for our patients and appreciates the role that plays in patient wellbeing and recovery.

I will take great pride in thanking Dr Damian, Kellie and all the wonderful team who provided you with such superior care.
