"Kind and effective care"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / Emergency Department Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / Orthopaedic Surgery

(as the patient),

I had a fractured ankle which needed surgery. I was admitted to SCGH and I felt so well looked after in ED, theatre, recovery, discharge ward as well as ward 53. Without exception the nursing, orthopaedic and physio teams took time to explain my care and answer any questions I had.

It seemed the hospital was very busy when I was there however this didn’t affect the quality and kindness of the care I received. Special thanks to Jess, Vera and Dana senior orthopaedic registrar and nursing team on the ward. I found the discharge process was also excellent. I fully understand the plan of the weeks ahead. Thank you all I am very grateful for your care and kindness.

Dear So well care for,

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experiences at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) Emergency Department, Theatre, Recovery, Discharge Ward and Ward 53. Our nursing, orthopaedic and physio teams will be very pleased to hear that you felt so well looked after.

It is so important that we plan care in partnership with our patients and it is rewarding to hear that staff took the time to explain your care, answer your questions and that you fully understood your discharge plan weeks ahead.

I will ensure that your words of appreciation about their care and kindness are passed on, with special thanks to Jess, Vera, Dana and nursing team on the ward.

I hope that you are recovering well from your surgery.

Kind regards,

Chris Cullen
