"Great service at Kalgoorlie Emergency Department"

About: Kalgoorlie Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Over many years, I have noticed a great improvement in service at the Kalgoorlie Emergency Department. I visited the emergency department twice in the last 3 weeks and I found the service was very fast and up to the highest standard.

Recently, I visited emergency re sports injury in the evening. The moment I explained the situation to triage nurse, one of the doctors came out and took me to xray department. We had an xray done and within 5 minutes, doctor called me in to show images and said that I have a minor fracture. He put a bandage in and referred me to orthopaedic specialist.

I did not need any casting or admission. The next day, I received a call from outpatient clinic regarding my appointment later that week. The specialist booked weekly appointments and xray scans to monitor healing. I am very happy with the the service I received and, based on my experience, see how each department compliments each other to provide a holistic and wrap around service to the consumer.

Great work team. Keep it up :)

Dear scorecardtr74

Thank you for your post, this is really great to hear and I will make sure it’s passed along to our whole team.

I especially love your comments about our different departments communicating well to provide a wrap-around service for you as the consumer at the centre!

Feedback like yours gives the team a real boost. It goes a long way to keeping them positive during the tough times they will inevitably face too. Also, it’s a wonderful drawcard for any potential new staff members that may be looking at Kalgoorlie as a place to come and receive a great rural Emergency Department experience. It assures them they will be part of a collaborative service, that not only backs each other, but has the support of the community too.

I hope everything is healing well with your fracture. If you have any issues at all with your follow-up appointments etc please don’t hesitate to reach out to me on 9080 5817 or Alicia.Michalanney@health.wa.gov.au.

Kind regards, Alicia
