"Blood test processing time"

About: PathWest Laboratory Medicine WA

(as a parent/guardian),

My young child had their blood taken by another pathology service approximately 4 months ago. Unfortunately, one of the tests requested (tryptase) required the blood specimen to be tested at PathWest. My child’s specialist phoned PathWest prior to their appointment the month following as they had not received the results. The specialist was informed that as tryptase is not a common test that PathWest wait until they have a number of specimens before running a batch.

At the time of writing this story we still don’t have the results. The specialists receptionists have followed up a number of times with no outcome.

I am the parent of this child and have been told by PathWest that I am unable to obtain any information as it is in relation to a minor and, I recall, there may be custody issues in place. I believe this information to be incorrect.

The outcome I would like is:

1. For PathWest to confirm they have the specimen.

2. For PathWest to confirm when they will run the test!
