In June 2020 I gave birth to my first child. For the entirety of my pregnancy I was apart of the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) at another hospital. This group gave me the confidence and support through my pregnancy that I believe every mother needs. Having a baby at the start of covid was very scary, but the MGP helped to keep things as normal as possible. I had my midwife through the whole pregnancy and another from my group for the birth of my baby. My midwife came and visited me while I was in hospital and gave me love, support and reassurance when it was desperately needed. Having a husband who worked away and then covid restrictions, it meant going to all of my appointments and ultrasounds alone, but having the same midwife at all my appointments, made it easier.
I now live in Karratha and would love to have access to something similar here. This program really helped me through and I believe it would be an asset to the Pilbara health care system.
