"Emergency department attendance"

About: Merredin Health Service / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Attended due to having a dog bite and there being no after hours doctors in the area. I've also twisted my knee in the incident. Treatment was in the threshold between the waiting room and emergency department. I felt I had to remove my pants with no privacy for the nurse to look at my knee. It seemed it was decided there is nothing wrong. Injury was washed over a half filled rubbish bin. Steristrips applied and a prescription written except the nearest chemist open was over 250km away. Eventually several days dosage was found with it seemed the excuse it's a small hospital we aren't given stock of this medication.

Over two weeks later, I was still fighting an infection, one wound remained gaping open, awaiting imaging results on my knee. It seemed no discharge notes were given at the time nor sent to my GP. Felt like I was an inconvenience to their evening/interrupting their dinner. Nurse who dressed wound did show some concern but the nurse who initially saw me had terrible computer skills, tried to take temperature through the window despite being given my ID number by another staff member. Had to get someone to drive 150 the following day to fill the script as there was no doctor locally and the community pharmacy at a nearby town was closed.
