Knowing that I had a hospital team looking over my shoulder while I was going through Covid, brought me a tremendous sense of security. I am in my mid 70s and my husband is a couple of years older than me. We got Covid at the same time. My husband’s GP was away, and my GP doesn’t work every day, so when there is no professional person looking after you, you feel a bit vulnerable.
Everyday, someone on the team asked us questions, kept track of what we were going through & gave us feedback that was relevant at the time. The hospital sent us an oximeter and took stats daily. One day my oxygen saturation level was too low so the person on the team sent an ambulance with a paramedics to check me out. I was fine but it was very reassuring, especially now that getting Covid seems to be part of the ‘norm.’ But, in my opinion, it’s not part of the norm if you’re over 70 years of age - it’s scary.
So this service is quite fantastic for people like us. I would like to say “thank you” to all those involved. “Keep up the good work!” It is invaluable to people like me & my husband. It really gave us a feeling of security.
