"Child on a feeding tube"

About: Peel Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Took my child to Peel Health Campus with a feeding tube that they are relying on atm, it started to come out and then my child pulled it out as they are only a few months old but have been told by nurses to wait as it isn't important.

Dear giftwe45,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent presentation to the Emergency Department at Peel Health Campus with your young child. I imagine it must be stressful with your child being dependent on a feeding tube, especially so early in their life. It sounds as though you needed reassurance and information when you presented to hospital and I am sorry that you were left feeling as though your situation was not important.

We do take all feedback seriously and would welcome the opportunity to investigate your concerns and respond to you directly. The best person to help to facilitate such conversations is our Complaint Officer who can be reached via phone on 9531 8580 or email to enquiries.phc@ramsayhealth.com.au. We recognise that you may not wish for your feedback to be treated as a formal complaint and please be reassured that this will not be necessary; this will simply allow us to look into this matter in more depth.

I do hope that your baby’s feeding tube was able to be reinserted without too much discomfort, and that they are on their way to full health.

Kind regards,

Matthew Wright

Chief Executive Officer
